App of the week: Remember Me
This app was suggested by a member of the Online Pastor Facebook group. It’s not free, but I think it’s worth the £2.29 it costs for Android, iOS, Windows and more.
It’s an app with one clear goal: to help you memorise scripture. There are flashcards, puzzles, audio tests and all sorts of other ways of helping you do that. The first thing you’ll want to do when you get the app is go to Settings and change the voice speed until it suits you. You can import a sample set of verses and start with those, or start by entering the verses you want to focus on. Maybe try learning your favourite psalm? Or some verses you’d like to be able to remember when sharing the gospel with friends.
Why memorise scripture anyway?
1. To meditate on it day and night: Joshua 1:8
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
2. To use it as a weapon against sin: Ephesians 6:17
Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
3. So you can encourage other Christians
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
If you’ve never tried to memorise scripture, why not get the app and give it a go? It’s easier than you might think and it really helps to get the word of God embedded in your heart and mind.
