nine days of prayer: day six

Today, Bishop Michael will attend a Service of Holy Communion at St Alkmund’s Church, Whitchurch, SY13 1LB at 7pm, followed by refreshments.

1 Peter 5:1-4

To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them – not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

Pray that Bishop Michael will be a shepherd of God’s flock that is under his care.
Pray that he will watch over us willingly.
Pray that he will serve us eagerly.
Pray that he will not be tempted to pursue dishonest gain.
Pray that he will be an example to us all, never lording over us.
Pray that he will indeed receive the crown of glory when the Chief Shepherd returns.
